In 2023 the Fiamma cinema in Largo degli Abeti will reopen its doors. Ten years after its closure, it is being brought back to life as the gym of the Body Studio Circuit, which will have five locations across the city. It will be Fiamma Body Studio. But the historical structure of 1954, in the heart of all Palermitans, will not be shaken. The 700 square meter cinema hall with projection stage becomes a fitness area. And while you follow the lessons of the various sports disciplines, thematic images scroll across the screen and films are also projected.
“The adventure of the Fiamma cinema is a great emotion for us – says Giorgio Trupiano, manager of the Body Studio centers – It is a piece of history of this city that comes back to life after ten years of oblivion. A place in the heart of Palermo that we want to respect. In fact, we identify an architect who can imagine a non-invasive renovation project while respecting historical cinema.
The investment is approximately 2 million euros between the purchase of the land and any work required to reopen the building.
“Already in September, potential users can pre-register in the new gym – says Trupiano – To start activities in early 2023, in the meantime they can of course visit our other centers in the city.” .
Largo degli Abeti is also reborn. “The idea is to use the outdoor area in front of the cinema entrance as much as possible for sports activities, which is obviously a public space. Also in this case with the utmost respect for the context through the use of specific headphones to follow the activities that we already buy “.
After receiving all permits, the renovation work will begin. The cinema closed in 2013, overwhelmed by the crisis that hit the industry. Then, in 2014, the owners tried to convert it into a live music venue, but to no avail. Then, in 2021, the property was listed for sale on the property pages. Now a new story begins with the body studio.
